How to clean artificial grass?
Artificial Lawn
Adelaide
Care & Maintenance
Weeding maintenance for artificial grass

Maintaining your artificial lawn is crucial for its longevity. Utilize a high-quality blow vac as the primary tool for this task. Regularly blow off any microscopic grass seedlings, as well as medium or large debris from the area. Consistent maintenance significantly reduces the likelihood of weed growth. For additional protection against stubborn weeds, consider applying a high-quality weed herbicide to safeguard the area. Remember to use these products at your own risk and carefully follow the manufacturer's directions before application.

Pro Tip: Blow all debris AWAY from the artificial lawn and garden area. Blow towards a concrete path and use a dustpan to do the final clean.

Cleaning Pet waste off your artificial turf

For effective removal of pet waste from your artificial lawn (feces), it's best to wait until the matter is dry. Cleaning while the waste is moist can heighten the risk of odors settling into the lawn blades and being absorbed into the dry sand. Follow these three simple steps to ensure your artificial lawn stays fresh and odor-free
-
Simply use a “poop scoop” and scoop the waste. A “poop scoop” can be purchased at any local pet stores.

2. Use a blow vac to blow off any leftover matter from the area.

3. Lastly, use a garden hose with generous amount of water and spray directly to wash down the artificial lawn.
Pro Tip: If any stench occurs, further products can be purchased at your local Bunnings or hardware stores to cover the stench. Pet urine can be easily washed off. These products will help further to deodorize the artificial lawn.
Making your artificial lawn look and feel a million dollars (grooming)
Grooming your artificial lawn is a breeze with a medium-profile broom. Brush "against the grain," meaning against the direction of the artificial turf blade follicles, encouraging the blades to stand upright. This technique not only enhances the lawn's visual appeal but also maintains its vibrant green appearance, ensuring it looks its best!
Pro tip: Take a closer look at your artificial lawn follicles. There are two sides to the artificial grass. These two sides consist of the “shinny” side and a “green matte” side. Brush against the green matte direction. At Designed & Done we always mention the grass is always greener on the other side.
Roller Shutter Adelaide
Care & Maintenance

What you will need:
-
Soft profile dust broom
-
2x 10L water buckets
-
3x Micro fibre Cloth (cleaning and drying)
-
Everyday dish washing liquid
-
Mop long handle Car washing sponge OR microfiber cloth (cleaning)
1. Position of Roller Shutter: Before you start make sure your roller shutters are
-
Cleaning the front face - closed position (down)
-
Cleaning between your window and roller shutter – open position (up)
-
Cleaning from inside your home (back of the roller shutters) - closed position (down)
2. Preparing the roller shutter before the clean:
For effective cleaning of your roller shutters, use a soft-profile dust broom to remove any spider cobwebs and dust from the slats, guides, and pelmet box. Repeat this process for the front face while in the down position. Additionally, remember to clean the space between the window, brickwork, and roller shutter when in the open position. This ensures thorough cleaning and maintains the appearance and functionality of your roller shutters
(Tip: Do not use steel or hard bristle brooms as this will scratch your window, brick work and roller shutter.)

Cleaning behind roller shutters can pose challenges, depending on the window's shape and size. A mop or long-handled car washing sponge proves invaluable in such situations, readily available at hardware stores.
You have two options for cleaning behind the roller shutters:

-
Clean from the front face while the slats are halfway open.
-
Alternatively, clean from inside your home with the roller shutter in the closed position. Most houses feature sliding windows and fly screens, allowing easy access for cleaning behind the roller shutters. Simply slide the window and remove the fly screen to access the back of the roller shutter. This method also enables cleaning of the brickwork if necessary

(TIP: use gentle pressure when cleaning from the inside out as excessive pressure will result in the roller shutter being pushed out of its fittings.)
3. Prepare the cleaning solution:
Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing everyday dishwashing liquid with warm water in a bucket. Warm water is preferable as it effectively lifts dust compared to cold water. A ratio of 5 generous drops of dishwashing liquid to 10 liters of warm water is efficient. Additionally, fill another bucket with warm water for rinsing your sponge or microfiber cloth after use. This ensures thorough cleaning without leaving behind any residue.

(Tip: Do not use bleach , acids or any abrasive cleaning solutions.)
4. Let’s start cleaning:
Dip your sponge or microfiber cloth into the water bucket containing the cleaning solution. Utilize the mop's long handle or car washing sponge for reaching difficult sections of the roller shutter. After cleaning each section, such as each slat, use the secondary water bucket to wring out the sponge or cloth. This secondary bucket acts as a filter, capturing grime and dirt, thus minimizing scratches on the roller shutter's paint finish. This method, akin to car detailing, is known as "the two-bucket method."
Wipe horizontally to prevent small particles from becoming lodged between the slats. Repeat this process for all sections of the roller shutter until all dirt and grime are removed.

(Tip: Avoid using excessive pressure when cleaning from outside to inside.)
5. Rinsing the roller shutters:
After cleaning the roller shutter, rinse off any excess cleaning solution using a garden hose with gentle pressure. Be cautious not to spray water into the pelmet box, as this could damage the electronics and mechanisms of the roller shutter. Focus on rinsing the slats and outer surface thoroughly, ensuring all cleaning solution residue is removed without compromising the internal components.

(Tip: Do not use a high-pressure washer for rinsing. This will increase the likelihood of damaging the roller shutter and control mechanism.)
6. Drying the roller shutter:
Water is excellent at trapping dirt, grime, and dust. This can result in water spots. Use a dry micro fibre cloth to dry the roller shutter afterwards thoroughly. Ensure the cloth is dry and if the cloth is damp from excessive water, replace with a new one. Repeat until the entire roller shutter is dry including slats, guides, and pelmet box.
(Tip: make sure your microfibre cloth is dry and alternate as often as possible. A dry cloth will ensure to soak up the excess water and will give your roller shutter a beautiful looking finish).
7. Final Testing of the operations on the roller shutter:
Once step 1 – 6 is complete, test and operate the roller shutter to ensure it is operational as usual (closed, open and half way position).
Well Done! The Roller Shutter is now squeaky clean. Now, just sit back and have a glass of red to admire your freshly cleaned Roller Shutters!

-
Open and Close the Blinds: Operate the blinds by opening and closing them multiple times to distribute the lubricant evenly.
-
Check for Smooth Operation: Continue the open and close motion until you feel the blinds running smoothly on their tracks.
-
Additional Lubrication: If the operation still feels rough, apply a little more lubricant and repeat the process until the motion of the blinds is smooth.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your Slidetrack Outdoor Blinds operate smoothly, enhancing their longevity and performance.
